A Big Manual For Acne Skin Care During Winter From An Expert

Are you long past puberty and still suffering from acne? Don’t worry, you’re not alone. We have prepared an article for you about the thorough care of acne-prone skin during the cold months.

Why is acne skin care so difficult?

As I mentioned in the previous article – acneic and problematic skin is one of the most demanding in terms of care. It is no different even during winter and cold days. On the contrary! This skin requires a lot of attention and perception of every single change, especially during this period. Problematic skin is very susceptible to temperature changes, i.e. transitions from heated rooms to cold weather and vice versa.

These days, I often come across the term dry – acne-prone skin. It’s not like that at all. Problematic skin does not become dry, but dehydrated . We can call it a temporary condition, which is caused by several factors – external influences, insufficient internal and external hydration, or incorrectly chosen cosmetics. In short – everything affects our skin and we must always think about it!

What type of cosmetics is best for skin with rashes?

When choosing cosmetics, I recommend reading the composition and looking for ingredients that do not irritate the skin. Avoid sulfates, high alcohol content, parabens, or perfumes. On the contrary, look for ingredients that not only induce surface hydration, but also those that lock water in the skin. It has long been no longer true that acne-prone skin does not need hydration. The following ingredients will do an excellent job, for example: hyaluronic acid, various types of non-comedogenic oils, D-panthenol, ceramides, vitamin C, hydrolates, glycerin, niacin, antioxidants, retinol, aloe vera…

What should evening skin care look like, or when we want to remove her makeup?

At the outset, I cannot fail to mention that I recommend using oils. They should be included in the daily routine, especially in the evening when removing make-up, especially in winter. You will see for yourself that the oil will act like a balm on your skin. Its fats can easily handle any make-up without irritating your skin. The oil softens the skin and leaves it soft.

Avoid using micellar waters and foams , which will clean the skin, but at the same time remove the overall sebum, which can cause hypersensitivity, dehydration and deterioration of your condition. After removing make-up with oil, you can clean the skin with a suitable skin gel and then don’t forget toning. Thanks to the tonic, you balance the pH. This will allow the skin cells to function in an optimal mode.

This three-step cleaning prepares the skin to receive active substances, which are hidden in, for example, serum, oil or cream. If you are not afraid of layering, do not forget that the application starts from the lightest emulsions and that is the serum:

  • I recommend either a hyaluronic or other moisturizing serum , or one containing retinol or vitamin C.
  • Secondly, apply a night cream , which should also be moisturizing, but at the same time should create a certain balance in terms of sebum production.
  • At the end, you can apply 2-3 drops of non-comedogenic facial oil . In this case, it is no longer necessary to moisturize the skin, because the water contained in the cream binds the oil perfectly and thanks to this it can be absorbed without problems.

On the contrary, how do we proceed with our daily skincare routine?

When caring for the skin, we proceed in the same way in the morning as in the evening. If you don’t have any special morning masks, feel free to use the oil you use to remove your makeup to clean your skin . It is advisable to use a tonic after the oil . Next, it is up to you whether you use serum, cream and skin oil. However, if you suffer from dehydration and peeling, I recommend using the moisturizing serum in the morning and then applying the cream .

A sunny weekend awaits us in the mountains. Is it necessary to protect the skin with an SPF factor even during the winter?

SPF is important to protect your skin even in winter. It is also the last step in the daily skin care routine. Do not mistake it for a day cream under any circumstances. SPF is applied completely at the end. Many of you may think that SPF is only a summer topic, but that’s not true. The sun’s rays penetrate our Earth throughout the year and even through the clouds. If you were to expose acne-prone skin to sunlight without a factor, it is quite possible that your skin could later be “decorated” with post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation. If you can’t decide which SPF is suitable, I recommend looking for mineral filters that have a mirror effect and thus reflect the sun’s rays.
